Congress must pass legislation directing where the FINES should go from BP and others responsible for the Gulf Oil Spill. This money may not go toward restoring the Gulf and its wildlife, unless there is support. Right now, thanks to the National Wildlife Federation, there is a bill in the U.S. Senate that would make sure money from these fines goes back to the Gulf communities.
It is called S.1400, The Restore Act.
Florida’s U.S. Senator Bill Nelson has been a strong supporter of this bill. His efforts over the next week will be crucial to helping it progress.
Please make a quick phone call this weekend to Sen. Nelson now, urging him to do all he can to push the RESTORE Act through the Senate this week.
