Volunteers needed: Shingle Creek Clean Up

In celebration of Earth Day, join us for our Shingle Creek clean up! Supplies will be provided. If you choose to bring a water bottle, please be sure to bring a re-fillable bottle rather than a single-use plastic one. Sun protection is recommended.

When: Sunday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Surf Expo

Surf Expo is the world's largest and longest-running board sports and beach/resort lifestyle tradeshow. Thank you to our volunteers who chatted with attendees about ways that they can be sustainable and reduce their plastic use.

August Chapter Meeting & OFR Outreach

Thank you for joining the Surfrider Foundation Orlando Chapter for our August chapter meeting at 7 p.m.! We discussed upcoming events, initiatives, and volunteer opportunities.

Thank you to our guest speaker, Betsy Stewart! Betsy explained her work with Oyster Restoration and our chapter put her in touch with other Surfrider chapters who may be able to assist her in these efforts.

Prior to the meeting, we walked around East End Market to recruit restaurants to join our Ocean Friendly Restaurant Program (OFR). Thank you to those who joined us!

Lake Formosa Cleanup

Thank you for joining the Surfrider Foundation Orlando Chapter, Central Florida Recon, and Oh Eco to clean up Lake Formosa. We cleaned up over 200 pounds of trash in and around the lake!

When: Saturday, December 3, at 10 a.m.

Where: 1801 Alden Rd, Orlando, FL 32803

Personal kayaks and paddleboards are permitted. As long as there are no water level or water quality concerns, we will pick up litter both in the water and around the lake.

IDEAS Hive: Rise Above Plastics - Stopping Plastic at its Source

Thank you for joining the Surfrider Foundation Orlando Chapter to discuss how Central Florida restaurants and patrons can Rise Above Plastics! We talked about how to build a community of eco-conscious restaurants, activists, and patrons. As the Surfrider Foundation grows its network of Ocean Friendly leaders, the plastic-free concept becomes more mainstream.
